Queere Videos 5: Fuck you von Lily Allen

Lily Allen alias Lily Rose Beatrice Cooper (geboren als Lily Rose Beatrice Allen) ist eine Sängerin, die 1985 in London geboren wurde, und die, so kann man sagen, in ihren jungen Jahren schon sehr viel erlebt hat. Durch die Trennung ihrer Eltern bedingt (Vater ist der Schauspieler und Komödiant Keith Allen, Mutter die Filmproduzentin Alison Owen) musste sie als Kind und Teenie häufig die Schule wechseln (sie besuchte bis zum fünfzehnten Lebensjahr 13 verschiedene Schulen!). Sie wurde auch öfter verwiesen und verließ dann auch das Internat, auf das sie gehen sollte. Sie brach ihre Ausbildung als Floristin recht bald, kiffte sich nach eigenen Angaben ständig die Birne zu. Und dann lernte sie einen Musikproduzenten kennen und kurze Zeit später, Ende 2005, erhielt sie einen Plattenvertrag bei Regal Records (Parlophone/EMI). 
2009 entdeckte ich dann das Lied "Fuck you" und dachte: Puh, das passt so gut zu dieser "Göre". Dann achtete ich auf den Text:

cause we're so uninspired.

So sick and tired.

Of all The hatred you harbor,

so you say It's not okay to be gay,

Well I think You're just evil.

You're just some racist.

Who can't tie my laces,

Es nimmt nicht wunder, dass dies eine Gay Anthem gegen Homophobie wurde.

Interessant an diesem Song ist nun, was Stevie Bishop noch im selben Jahr anlässlich des Internationalen Tages gegen Homophobie daraus gemacht hat. Er hat sich mit einigen Youtubern zusammengetan und ein neues Video gedreht. Er schreibt:


theres a disgusting amount of hate on the internet (especially on youtube!) directed at minority groups (especially the LGBT community) so i was inspired to organize this collab video. i never set out to change the world. i did not make this for the gay haters to see. i wanted to make something light hearted and funny for the victims of gay hate, to teach them to brush off the hate and stand strong and confident as who they are. you're not alone! stevie loves you :)

the song is "fuck you" by lily allen. contrary to popular belief (including my own, before i knew better) this song was not written about george bush. lily allen said: 
"this song is not a direct attack at anyone, it was originally written about the BNP in the UK but then I felt this issue has become relevant pretty much everywhere, we are the youth, we can make coolness for our future, its up to us. Go green and hate hate."

this video is our interpretation of the meaning behind the lyrics and i think that our video gives a slightly different meaning to the lyrics and directs more focus on gay discrimination. the third verse against war has been taken out for this video, as it is not the subject we're dealing with.
